The thing about all these class of electronics designed for under-cabinet kitchen installations...they tend to get a bit gamey after a while, particularly if the kitchen's a smaller one (which is exactly the sort of space a compact device such as this would be suited for). While it's probably better that there's a drawer for the iPod, I wonder how 'nice' the iPod will be after a few weeks of airborne grease and cooking oil. Alter all, not everything manages to go up through the range hood exhaust fan.
And as for the high humidity of a bathroom, or the sort of dirt and dust found in a home workshop...well, I suppose Apple does make plenty of iPods if one ever needs replacing due to the environment it's exposed to.

After we installed the unit under one of the cabinets in the kitchen, it experienced a lot of erratic behavior (changing radio channels, turning on/off, mute, etc.). Called iHome and was instructed to take the unit back to the store where it was bought. Received a new unit which had the same problems. After I covered the IR receiving sensor the problem went away. Must have been the interference from the fluorescent lights in the kitchen. I Would epect that more users would have this problem, but have not seen it described anywhere else.
