Yeah, I have this things... I got it for Christmas in 2006 and it is February 18th and it quit working this morning... I have done nothing to make it not work... It will play my iPod for 45 seconds and then it will shut off, the remote doesn't control the iPod any more, and the alarm won't wake me up to my iPod... Don't buy this piece of crap, it sucks...

I bought one of these and liked it a lot for the price, especially the fact that you can shut the backlight off completely -- I sleep with the clock radio quite close by and am pretty sensitive to light.
BUT, it has one fatal flaw. I like to go to sleep to my iPod. I like to wake up to FM radio. The problem is, to go to sleep listening to the iPod you have to cycle through the functions, like so: AUX->FM->AM->iPod. That means the last radio band selected was AM. When the alarm turns the radio on, it turns it on to the last selected station... which is AM.
There appears to be no workaround for this egregious UI bug, so I'll be returning the unit.
BTW the remote did work fine for me.

I bought one of these (the higher end model) and I have to say that it worked very well. I did return it though as it has a feathure that after several days I could not stand anymore. When the alarm goes off it starts very quietly ad slowly builds in volume until the bloddy thing is screaming at you. It has the ability to WAKE up the whole household. Yes I could turn it off either with the remote or just jump out of bed.....but I like to be woken up and listen to the news for say 5 minutes and then get up.....NOT have to jump up straight away for fear that everybody in the house will be yelling at me to turn it down.
So tat really is my only misgiving. I seached all the usual online spots to see how I could reduce the maximum volume when using the ipod or radio as the alarm but all my research indicated it was hard wired and could bot be altered. If anyone has already worked this out PLEASE reply here, stating how to do it.
