I bought this adapter today at CompUSA for $35. Regularly priced $50 but 30% off with that store shutting down. So not a bad price compared to the $80 you guys are quoting.
Originally I was after the Belkin transmitter which was also priced at $35 along with the iTrip. But I decided on this one because of the included FM radio and bottom headphone jack.
You see the headphone jack on my 5th Gen iPod is broken (right channel doesn't work). So I was hoping that this device would pass through the ipod audio to its own headphone jack that it uses for its radio. I read this review while I was at the store but it didn't go into much detail about that. So I took a chance anyway. Unfortunately I was wrong. Seems the headphone jack on the bottom of this device is purely for the FM radio. So you have to keeping switching your headphones from one jack to the other depending on what you want to listen to. That's just really stupid design.
Overall the transmitting part is ok. Not as good as the $17 Scosche transmitter I got last year from Walmart. But that one requires you use the headphone jack and a cigarette jack. I wouldn't have much complaint for this Kensington (as the radio and headphone jack are extras) except for the fact that it lacks a usb power pass-through that both the iTrip and Belkin unit both have. And the Belkin even comes with the cigarette power plug for optional use.
Still it's not bad for $35, I'd rather have bought the Belkin though.
