Is this issue still present in the new version?
"And, in fact, there’s the tiniest hint of noise added to the Stereo Dock’s output that isn’t in the headphone port’s or standard Dock’s line-out signals - "

Does this dock has the same problem with the line out not being "true" line-out as the previous Kensington dock you reviewed or has this been fixed?
I was also wondering if the slight hiss issue has been fixed, as the previous person commented.

Can a video ipod in the agent 18 case fit into this dock (once the universal-style adapter has been removed)?
I know that a video ipod with the agent 18 case fits into the universal dock, but I noticed that this dock has small lip that the universal dock doesn't.

I got Kensington's Entertainment Dock 500 from Amazon via Techdepot for $79 incl shipping and tax, etc. I got the dock within 3 days. Its very functional, looks good and I used it every day all the time when home. It stopped working suddenly within about the first three months. After some process of elimination I narrowed it down to be the dock rather than my ipod (whew - that made me happy since the Ipod was 25 days out of warranty
. Called Kensingtons hotline and was on hold for less than half a minute before I got a real person.I had expected half an hour. Explained the issue briefly. The rep was in India, but he was really in tune with the issue and promised a new one would be on its way within a few days and I don't need to send the broken one back. Got the new unit via Fed Ex within 3 days.
It's too bad the original broke so quickly, but it can happen, but what really convinced me with this product and this company was how well the warranty case was dealt with. I was delighted with the whole process.
Regarding Minor115 - I got the Ipod G5 and the agent18 case. It will NOT fit in the dock and you'll have to remove it before docking.

I just bought the dock yesterday and hooked it up today. The remote has a range of 5 feet, no more. Totally dead beyond 5 feet. I replaced the vendor-supplied batteries with fresh ones, but have the same range.
Bad remote?
Also, be aware that Kensington has put a large paper label onto the battery door on the back of the unit. The sticky label prevents the battery door from releasing (it essentially glues down the release). I pried it open, and the thin plastic strip on the door release promptly broke. This is a VERY POOR design and I've never, ever seen such a bad design execution before.
The sonic quality of the dock is very nice. If only they would fix the remote problems.
