Got a Memorex iFlip today and this review is right on about the picture. Out-of-the-box quality is less than desirable but can be modified through menu controls. That said, unless you're 3+ ft away, the screen pixels are very evident. Sound was not bad but since I've not heard the Video-55, I have no comparison. The lack of remote is only minor since you need to be relatively close to the unit to view, you can control the iPod easily.

Sonic must have respected Ilounge's opinion because the price dropped by $100 every place I've looked for this player recently. (I just purchased it for $197.) I am very happy with this player, especially since a recent update included the ability to change the aspect ratio from widescreen to normal viewing size. Sound is really good, but I was honestly slightly disappointed with the picture. I think the ipod's picture is better albeit too small for longterm viewing, but don't get me wrong...I LOVE this thing! Love the outer casing. Inside would only be better if it showed fingerprints a little less. Well worth the new, lower pricetag. A total must have for true 5G ipod lovers.

I used my Memorex iFlip on a two hour flight last month together w/Bose QC2 headphones. The sound was more than fine. On the return trip, my seatmate borrowed my iPod earphones & we watched a movie. It certainly beat the pants off the 5g screen. These will be my favorite travel buddies.
