This seems like a good idea, but Im confused, why does the neuros have to connect to the TV twice? Is there not an incoming connection from the cable and another output to the tv?

Camerack.
The Recorder is connected to the video source (like your cable box), and the TV if you want to set up recording options through the On Screen Menu or playback content on your TV.
Also, the quality fo the files created always depend on the quality of the source you are recording from. (DVD will be better than cable box or VCR).
