Great review; I could not agree more. I've been using both a ProClip 3G iPod swivel mount (original non-padded version) and Treo 600/650 seivel mount in my car for quite some time, and they simply work great.
Yes, they're expensive, but you only have to buy them once - and they are very durable - I've had to take mine out and remount them more than once due to work on my car, and I've had no problems with remount stretching or heat problems (and Texas is hot). A solid product all around. With the padded adjustable mount, they are nearly perfect. I'd even wager that with a little creativity (rubber spacers), you could use this mount on a mini or even a shuffle . . . .

Good Review. One question though - I use Sonnet's PodFreq in the car. Can this clip accomodate the Podfreq's case and antenna?

Price is a bit steep, but still a nice product. Nice review too.

Hello,
The adjustable holder, 848636, does work with the Contour case.
Thank you,

Here's a much cheaper solution if you only use one case. I have the spec clear acrylic case with the wheel protector broken off.
purchase a cell-phone car mount ($2.99, http://www.fadfusion.com/selection.php?product_item_number=40102600876)
attach mount to car dash (i added super glue since the ipod is heavy compared to a cell phone)
attach the small round swivel to the ipod case.
i just saved you $77

Can anyone tell me how wide this mount can get? I have a Showcase case on my iPod and I'd love to mount it to my dash, but I've yet to find any mount, adjustable or otherwise, that's wide enough for it.

Will this thing hold a 4G/40 in a Vaja case?!?! Been bummed that since I got my Vaja I can't use my proclip anymore. If this will hold it in the Vaja then it's been REBORN!!

I also have a Vaja case (iVod DJ) for my 60g iPod. Is the Proclip holder adjustable enough to accomodate this case? I would really like to go with a Proclip option as most of the holders out there seem inferior compared to these. Thanks for your help!

It looks like I may be able to answer both DudeDah's question and my own.
Proclip updated their product page with this info:
"Intended to be used with silicone type cases i.e. iSkin, Jam Jacket, Speck, XtremeMac and Showcase silicone cases. May fit other types of cases, MP3 Players or PDAs. It will open to 3.2" (82 mm) wide and close to 2.3" (60 mm)."
Vaja's website provided the dimensions for their iVod DJ, iVolution Rasta, and iVod Remixed case (for 4G (40GB)) cases:
2,72" x 4,33" x 1,02" inches
Going by this information Vaja case's 2.72" width should fit comfortably inside this holder.
Please note that I haven't tried this myself as my Vaja case is in the mail and I have yet to purchase a Proclip holder. Unfortunately they do not ship internationally and I am having difficulty finding any other company that stocks this holder.

I just installed mine. It looks great, but the narrowest it gets still seems to be a little loose on my 30GB iPod Photo (no case). Since the iPod is 2.4" wide, I suspect that the 2.3" figure is off a bit. I guess I'll have to buy a silicone case to get it to fit snugly. I drive twisty mountain roads every day, and I wouldn't want my iPod falling out.

I have the 5g video ipod with a clear hard plastic case. will this slip through the holder on the mount? would i need to use some silicon-y adhesive on the sides? Also will my iTrip (bottom dock one) still fit and not get in the way?
anyone have any ideas? thanks!

what about iClaro's back beltclip/stand thingy? does the increased THICKNESS affect its grip on the thing?
I sure hope not. I already ordered it. :\

Fits my aluminium cased 80gb ipod with amazingly well. Holds it in place all the time even under heavy breaking (Not my fault hehe) and leaves you able to plug in anything you want.
A+ for me
