I, too can recall a time very long ago when Sharper Image seemed like the coolest store around. But these days it only seems to sell three sorts of electronics: (1) a limited selection of products made by other companies that you can easily find elsewhere at a lower price; (2) self-branded trinkets and gadgets that in my experience perform poorly and break down quickly; and (3) Ionic Breeze air filters, upon which the entire company's financials seem to hang.
This speaker isn't doing anything to change my opinion.
