man, if you're in "higher risk" areas, why take an ipod? and if you have to, why don't take it with you (pocket, bag,...)?
especially if you want to use it, say, in a speaker dock in your office, you cannot use it because the speaker needs the dock connector! i can't think of a useful purpose for this...

Wouldn't it be possible, if you pulled hard enough, to just rip the dock connector (or at least part of it) off and take the iPod?

Dude, I bought the retractable one a few weeks ago for $40! I'm pretty pissed because:
1. I found out later that Apple sells it for $29
2. The friggin' thing came right off with a girly tug!!!! There was absolutely no damage to my iPod!!!
This product would qualify for a complaint to the Better Business Bereau.
ilounge, how can you honestly review a product without trying the tug test.
