I have one of the earlier Timbuk2 cases. After trying a couple of other types (the Armor and an iSkin) it's the one I use all the time. The belt clip design makes it super-easy to hook on to a shoulder strap for a backpack or satchel. The iPod is easy to remove to hook up to a dock or other accessories. The tough exterior and tender interior make it a good choice for someone with an active lifestyle.

I agree this one's a bit of a regression. The previous design has a little pocket on the front that worked well for holding headphones or even an iTrip. It also gave better protection overall although it was a hassle to deal with headphones sometimes. You could even slip a thin sheet of aluminum in the front pocket if you wanted more impact protection.

The big advantage to the new design is that orange is once again available - they dropped it from the earlier case design for some reason.

After living with my Timbuk2 case, it's by far my favourite design.

If you don't mind the exposure of the top, this is actually better because you will never have to worry about the earphone hassle. This is kind of a crossover between the Apple Nylon Slip-in case and the previous Timbuk2 iPod case.
