Sold as a premium version of its standard Juice Pack Plus, Mophie's new Juice Pack Plus Outdoor Edition for iPhone 4 + 4S ($120) uses a new dual-tone exterior design and a packed-in GPS application as inducements to drop an extra $20 over the price of its predecessor. The Outdoor Edition comes in brown with an orange ring, possessing the same silver side and top button covers we saw on the original version, plus an extra wide ringer switch hole to accommodate all iPhone 4 and 4S models. Inside, the Outdoor Edition has the same 2000mAh battery as before -- enough for a 91% recharge of a dead iPhone 4, as we found in our prior review -- with the same four white bottom power indicators, bottom left corner power switch, and bottom right corner micro USB port as before. A charging cable is included, along with a card containing a redemption code for the Mophie Outdoor-customized AccuTerra outdoor recreation GPS software, notably only a one-year subscription. The software promises high-resolution terrain and trail maps optimized specifically for the iPhone.
