We've seen plenty of desktop mounts for the iPad and iPad 2; the Joy Factory's Tournez ($90) uses an old-school C-clamp with a screw that tightens to hold a flexible arm from the edge of any flat surface. Tournez ships with a Smart Cover-compatible detachable hard plastic frame to hold the iPad 2 specifically, and a carbon-fiber-cored arm with two tightenable ball joints.
