If you like ballistic nylon, you'll understand the appeal of Essential TPE's Ultra Protection Sleeve ($35), sold in a "Slim iPad" version. The front and back of the case use cross-weaved, resilient-feeling black nylon, with a shiny faux leather on the outer edges, and a microfiber interior. A heavy-duty nylon strap at the top opens to let the iPad out, and closes with a square faux leather and Velcro pad in the front. Due to cardboard reinforcement beneath the nylon, the case feels sturdy and tough.

Does Ultra Protection Sleeve fit? Yes. Is everything protected? No, the iPad’s top surface is exposed, as are a little of its back and front—ironic considering the case’s name.
