On rare occasion, a new accessory arrives and leaves us scratching our heads as to whether or not the designers were serious; Friendly Integration's iBallz Originals ($20) is the latest item to win such a dubious honor. The company describes the set of four foam balls and a drawstring as a "shock absorbing harness" capable of adjusting to fit iPads or smaller tablets, providing "ultimate drop protection" without concealing your device; it effectively elevates the iPad above a flat surface. In practice, iBallz winds up looking really awkward on an iPad, requiring you to position the adjustable drawstring mechanism unusually on one of its sides. There's also its deliberately dumb marketing tagline, "Does your iPad got the Ballz?," which is either a joke or seriously designed to appeal to low-IQ readers. From our perspective, it's hard to see this particular accessory as anything other than ridiculous, but who knows, maybe the developer will come up with something better to use the potentially catchy "iBall" name in the future.
