All the matte-finished, anti-glare films we've tested thus far with the third-generation iPad have had the same problem: they have a prismatic effect, a rainbow-colored distortion that's especially noticeable on the tablet's high-resolution Retina display. Our most recent test is with Spigen SGP's Steinheil Ultra Fine Screen Protector ($25). Packaged with the same accessories as the company's other films -- cleaning solution, a squeegee, and a cloth -- this one has anti-fingerprint properties, enabling you to radically reduce the need to wipe down the iPad's face after daily or weekly use. While the prismatic effect is not as bad as some of the films we've seen, it's still there, and there's a slight blurring of the pixels. For the time being, this is the best of the matte films we've seen, but we're hoping that some developer (or Spigen itself) will do even better.
