Incipio’s new Tuxen ($50) case for iPad Air 2 is a folio-style case with a plastic latch on the back, used for folding the cover into a stand. Tuxen pairs a polycarbonate snap-in hard shell with a vegan leather front cover.
A magnetic closure activates the sleep/wake function, while an expected microfiber lining cradles the device.
There’s no button coverage on Tuxen’s shell, which isn’t exactly paper-thin, but is thinner than most iPad Air 2 cases we’ve seen. Snapping the iPad Air 2 into the corners is easy, though portions of the top and bottom of the device are slightly exposed.
It feels pretty light for a folio case. The plastic tab on the back makes it easy to use the cover for a stand in viewing or typing positions, but it does look a bit awkward.
Tuxen has a few small things that set it apart — its relative thinness and stand latch on the back — but otherwise, it’s simply a good iPad Air 2 folio style case for a pretty good price.
