OtterBox Commuter Series Case for iPhone 4

OtterBox has made a name for itself as the de facto heavy-duty protective case company, and the Defender Series Case is among the best we have seen. Moving into models aimed at everyday users then makes sense -- not everybody needs the most durable case in the world, but a thinner, lighter, easier to install option with the same pedigree is a good idea. One of those options is the Commuter Series Case ($35) for iPhone 4. Combining two layers of case protection with a clear screen film layer, it protects most of the iPhone 4 against damage at a more reasonable yet still somewhat high price.

While not nearly as protective as its sibling Defender, Commuter still stands out among the crowd in terms of shielding. The combination of silicone, plastic, and a screen protector gives the best of all worlds with thorough coverage of a majority of the device. If OtterBox were to cover the Apple logo in future iterations—unlikely considering its product history—we would be much happier. Not withstanding, we do recommend Commuter to those looking for a thinner alternative to ultra-protective cases, relatively fair at the $35 asking price.
