Sold in separate versions for the iPhone 3G ($35) and second-generation iPod touch ($30), Power Support's Air Jacket Sets each come with a super-thin plastic shell that covers the back and sides of the iPhone or iPod, one anti-glare screen protector, and one crystal clear screen protector. The iPhone 3G version also includes a Dock Connector protector and a white sticker sheet that can be used to remove dust from your screen prior to film application. Clear and black versions are available for each device in the U.S., while a white version is also available for the iPhone 3G in Japan. While we like how both the iPhone and iPod touch versions of Air Jacket look, and appreciate especially the second-generation touch's visual improvements on its first-generation predecessor, which we reviewed in greater detail, the prices for both of these cases remain too high given their simplicity and the limited protection they offer. Bezels and almost the entire top and bottom, save for corners, remain exposed, as do all ports and buttons. These are well-made, nice-looking options -- hence both receive our general recommendation -- but cheaper versions do as good of a job, and similarly-priced cases offer more protection.

In December 2009, Power Support introduced a new $40 “Local Edition” of the Air Jacket set, with “Japanese Designer AJ” artwork on the back. Five versions are available, each packaged with two protective screen films. It’s available here.
