Designed to help protect headphones and headphone ports against strain-related damage, the Replug 3.5mm Breakaway Audio Connector ($18) is available in white or black versions, each with a green cap surrounding a proprietary breakaway connector. The idea is that you plug the adapter's green end into your iPod or computer, connect your headphones to the white or black end, and listen normally. If the adapter is tugged, it flexes, and then the metal 3.5mm headphone port plug falls off rather than damaging your headphone plug or connected device. It's easily put back into place for re-use thereafter.
