Simplism’s Silicone Case Set for iPhone 5 ($13) is a surprisingly full-featured package given the extremely low price. The main component is a simple silicone skin in black, white, blue, orange, pink, or grey, each wrapping around the iPhone to protect most of its body.
Protective film, a cleaning cloth, dust-removing tape, a bubble remover, and a headphone cord clip are included with each case.
Silicone Case Set isn’t the sort of package that will make you say “wow” on looks: the case is quite simple, falling right between cheap and premium in terms of overall quality—it’s just fine. That being said, it offers a nice amount of protection: in addition to the back and sides, the screen is protected with partial bezel coverage and a raised lip.
All three buttons along the edge are completely covered, and the headphone and Lightning ports are protected with flip-open covers. Pull one of them up, though and all the rest of the material at the bottom moves, something that doesn’t affect the performance of the case, but reminds you that it’s not a top of the line option.
Silicone Case Set is good, not great—a very inexpensive solution that doesn’t feel cheap.
