United SGP Leather Pouch Vintage Edition for iPhone 4

Though we've been very open in the past about our dislike for flip-style iPhone cases, United SGP is trying to win us over to the dark side with its Leather Pouch Vintage Edition Flat for iPhone 4 ($46), a smaller version of its similarly-named case for the iPad. Using the same distressed brown suede exterior and a dark red fabric interior -- now with one of the company's oddball and virtually unreadable "Emerald Tablet of Heroes" inscriptions on the front flap -- the Leather Pouch Vintage Edition Flat has been cut with substantially open sides, a semi-open top, and a largely closed bottom. Fit testing shows the closed case to cover the top microphone hole and the full Dock Connector, while leaving the bottom speaker and microphone largely exposed, along with the headphone port, Sleep/Wake button, rear camera, and flash. Even if we're still far from sold on the wisdom of these flip designs, particularly for a device with two cameras, SGP's leather looks and feels quite nice.
