Apple has revised its US trade-in programme, and the numbers have moved enough to make the upgrade math genuinely worth running. Some devices are now commanding nearly 30 percent more than they did under estimates issued earlier this year, according to Mashable India, turning hardware that might have gathered dust into a real contribution toward a new purchase.
A Trade-In Windfall and the Monthly Budget It Lands In
Frank Monkhouse, a sports betting writer who tracks the Romanian market, sees the revised credits through a budgeting lens that will be familiar to anyone who thinks carefully about discretionary spending. A jump from $560 to $630 on a single device like the iPhone 16 Pro is not a trivial figure. It is the kind of one-time inflow that lands in the same household pot as monthly entertainment and leisure lines, and the question becomes how to allocate it deliberately rather than let it disappear.

Monkhouse notes that the Romanian sports-betting space he follows has developed its own vocabulary around exactly that kind of discipline. SH Romania, a Romanian sports-betting stats-and-tips platform, treats a fixed, capped monthly betting allocation as a discrete budgeting line to be planned consciously rather than allowed to balloon unchecked. The logic is the same whether the category is streaming subscriptions, gaming, or the one-time cash a trade-in releases.
iPhone Trade-In Values, Model by Model
The flagship figures set the tone. The iPhone 16 Pro Max now carries a maximum trade-in value of $720, up from $695. The iPhone 16 Pro’s ceiling rose more sharply, moving from $560 to $630. That $70 increase on a mid-tier Pro model represents the kind of revision that changes the arithmetic of an upgrade decision.
The programme’s reach extends well beyond current flagships. Older iPhone models, including the iPhone 12 series, the iPhone 11 lineup, the iPhone XS, and the iPhone 8, are all eligible for higher credits under the revised structure. Owners of hardware several generations old now have a concrete reason to check their device’s current estimate before assuming it is worth little. The updated valuations apply to this full range, making the revision relevant to a broad slice of iPhone owners rather than only those carrying the most recent hardware.
Mac and iPad Lines See Significant Dollar Jumps
The MacBook Pro’s revision stands as the largest dollar move across Apple’s product catalogue. Its maximum trade-in value climbed from $690 to $855, a $165 increase that gives owners of higher-end portable Macs a meaningful offset against the cost of a replacement. That figure anchors the Mac side of the programme’s update.
The MacBook Air also moved, with its maximum credit rising from $520 to $580. Beyond the laptop lines, the iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro have all received higher trade-in estimates under the revised programme. Apple’s iPad range follows the same pattern. Trade-in values for the iPad Pro, iPad, iPad Air, and iPad mini have each increased, meaning the revision touches the full spread of Apple’s tablet lineup alongside its desktop and laptop products.
Samsung, Pixel, and OnePlus Users Gain Entry Points
The programme is not limited to Apple hardware, and the latest update expanded its scope further. Apple increased trade-in values for eligible Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices, with certain Samsung Galaxy models receiving modest upward adjustments. The exact revised figures for individual Galaxy models were not disclosed, but the directional move gives Android users holding competitive hardware a more attractive financial starting point for switching.
More notably, Apple added the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R to its list of supported trade-in devices. That addition extends the programme to a brand that had not previously been included, broadening the pool of eligible customers and signalling that Apple is willing to widen the aperture of its switch incentive beyond the two dominant Android manufacturers.
The updated valuations are currently limited to customers in the US market. For those it does cover, the revised estimates are live now, and checking a device’s current credit figure before committing to any upgrade plan is the straightforward first step. Credit ceilings can shift again, so the current window is the relevant one to act on.
