There are three more preferable options that a customer can consider to keep their mobile backups which we will discuss in more detail along with the methods of performing backup actions for the three services.
Three Preferable options are:
- Virtual Private Servers (VPS)
- Android Backup Cloud Services
- Apple IOS (Mac) Cloud Services
1. VPS Backup: Methodologies and Process
The process of creating backups of data on a Virtual Private Server (VPS) and this will allow you to store your important data using mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.
Lets discuss about the steps involve in the process.
Step 1: Set up a VPS
You need to sign up for a VPS service from a provider of your choice. Some popular VPS providers that provide you with the various plans that suits customer needs and requirements are Oxtrys, DigitalOcean, and others.
Step 2: Configure your VPS
After you have access to your VPS Server, log in via SSH or any other method provided. Install any necessary software or dependencies whichever is required for your backup process.
Step 3: Set up a Backup Tool
Choose a backup tool for installation that is apt for mobile data backups and requirements. A popular option for backups is sync, which is a powerful and versatile file synchronization tool.
After choosing the suitable backup tool, install it on your VPS.
Step 4: Connecting mobile device to the VPS
There are several ways to connect your mobile device to your VPS. You can use SSH, SFTP on VPS and make sure it has low latency so you can do backups quickly. VPS USA or European VPS can be considered, as they can serve the purpose very well.
Step 5: Initiating backup
After connecting your mobile device to VPS, you can use the backup tool to initiate the backup process. Depending on the tool you use, you need to specify the folders or files you want to back up. You can create a script or use a command line tool to automate the backup process and schedule it according to your need.
Step 6: Monitor the backup
To make sure that the backup process is running smoothly it is very essential to monitor it and ensure that it is running without errors. Keep a record on the log files for any problems or errors generated by the backup tool.
Step 7: Verify the backup
Once the backup is complete, you should verify the integrity of the backup files. You can compare the files that are backed up on your VPS with the original files on your mobile device to make sure they match.
Step 8: Secure the VPS
Itis important to take appropriate security measures as the VPS will contain your valuable mobile data. Configure firewalls, update software regularly, and use strong passwords to protect your VPS.
2. Android operating system backup methods.
Google Account Backup:
Android devices provide you built-in backup functionality through your Google account. This backup includes app data, Wi-Fi passwords, device settings, and other data that is synced with your Google Account.
For enabling Google Account Backup in your device depending on which android device you use, you can go to Settings > Google > Backup and select Backup to Google Drive, Ensure that the toggle is turned on ,and then select the data you want to backup.

To enable iCloud backup on your device use iCloud settings, go to System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Backup and select the data you want to include in the backup.
Clone or Disk Imaging:
Disk cloning involves creating an exact replica (Identical Drive) of your Mac’s hard drive including operating system and all files, whereas Disk Imaging involves the process of creating reflector copy (compressed file with ISO extension) for you to restore it later. To create a bootable clone of your Mac’s hard drive on an external drive you can use third-party tools like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper.
Cloud Storage Services:
You can manually copy important files and folders to cloud storage services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive and get an access of your important files from anywhere when needed. You need to install the respective app for the cloud storage service on your Mac, and then drag and drop the files or folders you want to back up.
