We’ve all had that brain-freeze moment while we look at a seemingly random selection of ingredients on the kitchen counter to try and cook a dish. More often than not, the result of that mish-mash dish is one that’s best forgotten, and you vow never to do that again.
But there will be a time when you’re met with the same dilemma and start to panic. What should you do? Thankfully, there’s an app called ScanMyKitchen that can help you out.
What is ScanMyKitchen App?
ScanMyKitchen will be your best bet in turning that random selection of ingredients into a delicious meal. If the last time you made something inedible, this time you’ll have a proper meal that you and everyone can enjoy.
The ScanMyKitchen app provides meal suggestions based on the ingredients you have. It churns out recipes using a smart AI algorithm with some settings and filters to narrow down the options to what you want. In future updates, users will be able to open their smartphone’s camera and just scan the ingredients to get a list of recipes. Isn’t that convenient?
ScanMyKitchen Features: Powered by AI
Ingredient Selection
Ingredients come in the form of tiles that you can add or remove from the list. Most dishes are simple and easy to make, so this is a definite bonus for those who don’t have the time to do their groceries.
Recipe Variety
ScanMyKitchen has a wide range of recipes depending on the ingredients you choose. They’re really easy to make and taste good too. The app has an extensive library of menu selections, and the list is helpful with the most relevant ones at the top.
Customizable Filters
What sets ScanMyKitchen apart from the others is the ability to customize. You can pick a vegetarian diet, for example, and make it so that the recipes are for breakfast. Furthermore, you can pick the cuisine or choose an alternative recipe of the original.
Flexible
ScanMyKitchen is flexible enough that you can switch meals right in the middle of making it. Text and video tutorials can be searched depending on your preferences and cooking style.
Camera Scanning (Under Beta)
Camera scanning will be added in a future update, but it’s currently in beta. Basically, it lets you snap photos of the ingredients you have instead of listing them.
The Experience
After a quick download and install, the ScanMyKitchen app is ready to go. The app opens quickly and loads up to a clean and minimal interface. The most prominent menu at the start is where you add the ingredients. After adding a number of random ingredients, I then scroll to the bottom for the AI to come up with recipe suggestions.
A good number of recipes come up, with options to start again and add or remove ingredients as needed. The images per recipe are a nice plus- they’re clean and give you an idea of what you’ll be cooking. I also like the way you can change the settings depending on diet, meal type, cuisine, time it takes, and if you want to be assisted by AI.
The recipe steps are very helpful and you can find videos to get a visual before continuing. At the same time, you can look for alternative recipes or tutorials which can be helpful for those who never set foot in a kitchen before.
ScanMyKitchen is designed to be easy to use, and when Camera Scanning is updated you can simply take a picture of your ingredients and the app will make a list for you.
