Q: I just got my 20GB iPod a little over a month ago, and today, all of a sudden, the Click Wheel and buttons stopped working. The iPod responds when I plug in the charger, or connect it to the computer, but I am unable to use the Click Wheel or select any options. Please help!

A: Without seeing your iPod, it’s hard to be sure as to what’s wrong, but one possibility comes to mind: is the Hold switch activated? The Hold switch is the little sliding metal button on the top of the iPod, near the headphone jack. If you see a bit of red next to the Hold switch, slide it over the red section to unlock it.
The Hold switch is designed to protect your iPod from accidental button presses when you are not using it. If you activate the Hold switch, your iPod won’t go on if it gets bumped or if you touch it accidentally. Try moving the switch on and off three times, finally moving it into off position. If that doesn’t work, it’s time to call Apple.
