Q: I am considering buying a 20 GB iPod and have read conflicting reviews about the “shuffle” feature. One reviewer on epinions.com said that songs cannot be shuffled within playlists, that the iPod will only shuffle your entire library. On amazon.com, it specifically states that you can shuffle your library or playlists.
On apple.com, it doesn’t specifically state that you can shuffle playlists.
Can you shuffle within playlists? Can you shuffle just an album, or just songs by a particular artist, or by a particular genre?

A: You can shuffle albums, playlists, songs by artist, songs by genre, or all your music. For the latter, you can use the one-click Shuffle Songs menu item on the main menu.
For the others, you must go into the iPod settings, turn on shuffle, then start playing either an album, playlist, music by an artist or a genre. You can also create your own playlists that shuffle even if you don’t turn on shuffle for all your music.
