LaCie showed off a handful of new storage options at the Digital Experience show, including a fast new Thunderbolt 2 hard disk, a battery-powered Wi-Fi hard drive for iPad users, and a new luxury hard drive.
Billed as “the world’s fastest portable storage,” the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2 provides 1TB of storage at speeds of up to 1,375MB/s — optimized for 4K video editing. Dual Thunderbolt 2 ports are provided to allow multiple devices to be daisy-chained.
LaCie’s Fuel ($200) is a 1TB, battery-powered Wi-Fi hard drive designed to provide extra capacity for iPad users, with a unique industrial design that matches the device’s name. Files can be shared with up to five iOS devices at once using Seagate’s Wi-Fi hard drive app, and media can be streamed from the Fuel directly to the connected iPad or via AirPlay to an Apple TV or other AirPlay device. The drive provides up to 10 hours battery life and can be recharged or loaded from a USB 3.0 port on the side.
The Christofle Sphére ($490) is a new 1TB luxury hard drive designed by the renowned French company best known for its fine silver home accessories. The Sphére is hand-crafted and silvered in France and incorporates LaCie hard drive technology and is USB-powered, eliminating the need for a separate power cable.
Available in both 16GB and 32GB capacities ($50/$80), Culbuto is a unique USB 3.0 flash drive designed to sit on your desk rather than in your pocket.
