Belkin’s new Road RockStar ($40) is a clever new car charger specifically designed with multiple passengers in mind. Road RockStar has a total of four USB charging ports — two ports in the front section, which plugs into a car’s cigarette lighter, and two more ports on a hub at the end of a 6-foot cord. All ports are capable of 2.4A charging speeds, and Road RockStar supports up to 7.2A charging simultaneously (three of the ports at full-speed).
Road RockStar is a great solution for carpoolers, or connected families on the go. As an example — parents can charge their iPhones up front while a child in back uses a charging iPad. No Lightning cables are included, but for $40, that wouldn’t be expected. The 6-foot cable ensures ports should be within reach to anyone in the car, and a removable clip allows the attached hub to be affixed to the back of a seat. A velcro strip is included for cable management purposes, as well as a small strip of double-sided 3M tape.
