The newest version of Divoom’s Bluetune-Bean ($50), a small, egg-shaped Bluetooth speaker, adds a neat new feature — a remote shutter function for the iPhone’s camera. Bluetune-Bean still features a small loop at the top of the speaker on which to clip an included carabiner, which is also fittingly small.
A micro-USB cable is included for charging the speaker, which is said to last for up to 6 hours of play time. Bluetune-Bean also includes speakerphone capabilities.
We rarely review speakers as inexpensive as Bluetune-Bean (a quick search reveals the $50 MSRP speaker going for half that price on some websites) and never this miniscule, but we would like to note that the Bean gets louder than you might think.
Also, the remote camera shutter worked with no issues in our testing — we snapped a number of pictures (and took a video) remotely on our iPhone 6 Plus using the dedicated button on the speaker, through the phone’s Camera app. Users interested in extended listening would be better off with a larger speaker, but as a portable personal speaker with a useful camera remote shutter feature, Bluetune-Bean is worth a look.
