Earlier this month we looked at Element Case’s Formula, Recon, and Rev cases for the iPhone X — three relatively affordable options that incorporate the company’s well-known style and design elements. Element Case also offers an even more unique iPhone X case design in the form of Roll Cage, a combo that provides a TPU/polycarbonate case in Element’s usual style along with a detachable “cage” piece to protect the front of the iPhone X when not in use.
Both the name and concept are borrowed from the world of racing, where “roll cages” are specially designed and constructed around a vehicle’s passenger compartment for extra protection in the event of an accident resulting in a rollover.

Roll Cage applies this same idea to its iPhone X case, along with a racing-style aesthetic, with an additional cage pieces that forms part of the case during normal use, but can be detached and snapped onto the front for extra protection when you’re on the go. The case itself also includes CNC machined aluminum button coverage and Element Case’s typical “Dropshock” corners for impact resistance and drop protection that the company has rated at up to 10 feet in height or from a vehicle moving at 65 mph.

The detachable cage component easily snaps on and off from either side of the case, protecting the screen when on the front, and blending in nicely with the case design when attached to the back (although sadly, you’ll have to remove it for wireless charging). Roll Cage is definitely one of the most interesting and unique case designs we’ve seen recently, and while like many of Element Case’s offerings, the style isn’t for everyone, it’s a solid option for somebody who is looking for extra screen protection.
