Gear4’s Trafalgar ($40) for the iPhone 7 Plus is another one of the company’s stylish new protective cases built from D3O material for a high degree of drop protection without adding too much extra bulk. The slim protective cases feature a brushed metal look on the outside in either gold, rose gold, or silver colors, with D3O material inside for maximum shock absorption.
A layer of scratch-resistant TPU covers the outside of the case, while the D3O material on the inside and front borders is black on the silver version of the case, and white on the gold and rose gold versions; the colours are for the most part intended to match the corresponding iPhone colours, although you can arguably go either way for the silver and new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone versions. As with Gear4’s other cases, Trafalgar feels solid and protective, yet comfortable to hold, and offers full button coverage and bottom protection, although of course you’ll face the usual dock compatibility problems as you would with almost any case that’s not simply open on the Lightning port end.
