While bigger screens are nice, the downside to larger 4.7” and 5.5” iPhone models is that they can be more of a challenge to handle, making protective cases all the more necessary. This is clearly where GettaGrip is going with its new Grip2ü Boss ($30) for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus — a case designed to not only provide drop protection, but hopefully to prevent you from dropping your iPhone in the first place. The case is made from fused TPU and polycarbonate materials, giving it a softer interior surrounded by a hard polycarbonate shell, which the company claims will withstand drops of up to 10 feet.
The Boss is available in six attractive color options.
On the rear of the case, you’ll find an rubber strap with a cambered channel behind it to allow you to easily insert your fingers to keep your iPhone secure so you won’t need to worry about dropping it even when active. Textured edges on the sides and top of the case also provide for a sturdy grip when holding your iPhone, even without the strap. Volume and sleep/wake buttons are covered, although the ring/silent switch remains exposed but recessed.
The bottom edge of the case is uncovered to the front edge, sacrificing some protection in exchange for full docking accessory compatibility. A slot at the back holds up to three credit cards quite snugly as a group — you won’t be able to easily take them out individually, but there’s no concern at all about them coming out inadvertently. GettaGrip also sells the Grip2ü Boost ($30), a mostly identical but slimmer version that simply omits the card slot.
