Hex has recently introduced a number of new bags, including its Brigade Messenger Bag ($90) and DSLR Camera Gear Bag ($175). Brigade Messenger Bag is an affordable bag with a woven cotton exterior that’s been treated for water resistance. A front flap and two clasps keep the bag shut, ensuring the many included compartments are kept safe, dry, and secure. While Brigade Messenger Bag could be a travel option for a variety of travelers and commuters, DSLR Camera Gear Bag is obviously much more specific. The big, water-resistant waxed canvas backpack has a large storage area to keep a DSLR camera and all related gear safe and in order. The bag comes with additional dividers for more gear, and even includes a separate rear storage pocket for a MacBook Pro (up to 15”).
We appreciate Hex’s commitment to quality bags at affordable prices, and Brigade Messenger Bag is probably one of our favorites from the company. Not only does it look sharp, but it packs plenty of storage into a regular-sized laptop bag. Two front pockets can be found under the inner flap before you get to the laptop section (which can also fit an iPad Pro). The back of the bag has a velcro pocket, too, along with a rear handle. It’s a smart, stylish, versatile messenger bag. DSLR Camera Gear Bag is obviously geared to a specific crowd. It’s bulky, but as a backpack, it’s a worthwhile alternative to the many traditional DSLR messenger bags out there, as some users with a lot of camera gear might prefer lugging all of it around on their backs. Additional storage pockets — and the MacBook pocket — ensure that you won’t need to bring a second bag along to store more gear.
