Scosche’s strikeLINE Rugged LED ($20) is the third LED Lightning to micro-USB cable we’ve seen in recent weeks. Like the others (Scosche’s flatOUT LED and Just Mobile’s AluCable LED), strikeLINE Rugged LED is meant to tell users when a device is done charging at a glance — it glows red when charging, and blue when fully charged, via a small LED on the Lightning side of the cable.
Unfortunately, strikeLINE Rugged LED encountered problems similar to those found in the other two cables. Our strikeLINE cable wouldn’t stop glowing red, even when an iPhone 6 Plus was fully charged. We’re not sure what’s causing these issues — if it’s related to the current edition of iOS, or if it’s a device or hardware issue — but we’ve seen each of these cables give off improper readings, which currently makes us wonder what the point is. strikeLINE Rugged LED is a nice, tough cable, but we wouldn’t put much faith in the glowing light indicators of any of these cables thus far.
