Skech’s latest iPhone case, the Echo for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus promise to take impact protection to a whole new level. With its patented Shockwave Technology, Echo claims to be the first clear case on the market that meets 15-foot drop test standards.
Echo features a relatively minimalist design, available in only clear and onyx color options, and adds relatively little bulk to the iPhone considering the level of protection it offers.
The clear version is ideal for those who want to show off the underlying iPhone design, although we personally like the nice glossy finish on the onyx that’s reminiscent of Apple’s Jet Black iPhone, although surprisingly scratch resistant. The ridged design on the outer frame not only helps ensure you keep a solid grip on your iPhone, but is actually part of the shock absorbent technology in the case as well, with interlocking hard and soft materials that distribute the shock around the edges, keeping it away from your iPhone.
The case of course also features a raised edge around the front bezel and full button coverage and port access; the usual issue of dock compatibility presents itself here, but the Lightning port end is still wide enough to accommodate pretty much any Lightning cable. While there’s not much style to Echo, we kind of like the unassuming design; it has a certain appeal for those who want to add a healthy layer of protection to their iPhone without the need to either go too industrial or glam things up.
