Speck has released its award-winning lineup of Presidio cases for Apple’s new iPhone X, including the standard Presidio ($40), Presidio Grip ($40), Presidio Clear ($40), Presidio Clear + Print, and the extra-tough Presidio Ultra ($50, not shown). While the cases remain largely the same as their iPhone 7 counterparts that we reviewed last year, it’s worth noting that the clear versions have added a version of Speck’s Impactium shock absorption technology.
Presidio and Presidio Grip both feature ten-foot drop protection. The standard Presidio case is our personal favourite of the bunch — a minimalist and protective case for the iPhone X that feels great in the hand — but users concerned about their expensive iPhone slipping out of their hands may prefer the extra friction of Presidio Grip, which includes raised rubber ridges the ensure that you can keep a hold on your iPhone from just about any angle.
The two Presidio Clear cases now sport Speck’s Impactium Clear shock absorption, and are rated at a slightly lower eight-foot protection. Clear does a good job of letting you show off the aesthetics of the iPhone X, while Clear + Print is available in five different decorative patterns to add some panache to the case design. Those looking for a more serious case will appreciate Speck’s new Presidio Ultra, which gets 15-foot drop protection by adding an extra Impactium Ultra bumper piece to the standard Presidio case, making it a good two-in-one case option that provides a slim case for everyday use with additional protection for more serious outdoor excursions.
All of the cases are slim and feel great in the hand and include good and responsive button coverage, and fit the iPhone X perfectly. Speck’s Presidio cases remain some of our all-time favorites, providing a level of protection and style that’s unrivalled for the price.
