While LED bulbs have pretty much become the standard, especially among smart bulbs, we can’t help but appreciate the retro look of a old-school filament bulb, so we think Sylvania’s new A19 Soft White Filament Light Bulb is a pretty cool solution if you’re looking for something different for your HomeKit lighting.
The new A19 filament bulb joins Sylvania’s Smart+ HomeKit lighting lineup that we reviewed last month; it’s a Bluetooth light bulb that you can pair up with your HomeKit system with no additional hardware bridges or hubs required.
It’s a little dimmer than its LED counterpart, providing up to 650 lumens of light, or the equivalent of a 40-watt bulb, but provides the same fixed 2700 Kelvin color temperature.
While you’re paying a small premium for the filament design, we personally think that the style is worth it, and of course this isn’t the kind of bulb you’re going to use in enclosed fixtures anyway.
