There’s already great software on the market for storing your passwords—AgileBits’ 1Password immediately comes to mind. But if you want to add an extra layer of security to your Mac—something more than just a string of letters and numbers—check out Eikon’s Digital Privacy Manager with TrueSuite Premium for Mac ($50). This USB fingerprint swiper does a whole lot more than just log you into your computer: it keeps everyone else out.
The accessory is a modest 3.3” long and 1.33” wide, so it only takes up a small strip of your desk. Once it’s plugged in and the TrueSuite software has been installed, you’re good to go. Digital Privacy Manager can not only store fingerprints from multiple people, but several prints from one person.
This makes it easy for users to quickly log in and switch accounts, as well as to insert web passwords with just a swipe. We also really like the QuickLaunch feature, which launches different apps or sites depending on which finger you use. If you’re concerned about security on your Mac, this is a relatively inexpensive way to beef it up.
