There are so few original games these days that any time something new pops up, we’re eager to check it out. Graveck’s Strata ($3) is the rare example of a Mac App Store title that seems to be truly unique; it’s not just a port of an iPhone/iPad game, and it’s not just a slightly modified take on some popular genre.
Instead, it’s a new kind of puzzle game that combines simple but beautiful graphics and increasingly challenging gameplay.
In Strata, you’re required to layer ribbons to match the given pattern.
That might sound easy, but it requires planning and forethought to correctly match the design. There are hundreds of levels, meaning you’ll most likely get your money’s worth out of this one.
