It’s not the fastest or cheapest external drive, but LaCie’s Starck Desktop Hard Drive ($110-$150) is definitely sexy. With an enclosure by world renowned designer Philippe Starck, it’s definitely going to stand out. That red cross symbol is his signature T, and the LED inside also functions as a status light.
The front of the drive is entirely touch sensitive, allowing you to actually launch different applications based on a short tap or a long touch. One bummer: it only supports USB 2.0, so you’re probably not going to end up using Starck Desktop Hard Drive as your scratch disk. There are two capacities; the 2TB model has twice the size for only $40 more. We’re crossing our fingers for a Thunderbolt version.
