MumboJumbo 7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour HD

MumboJumbo 7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour HD

MumboJumbo’s games tend to have a few things in common: addictive gameplay, beautiful graphics, and nice soundtracks. So we jumped right on top of 7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour HD ($5) when it showed up in the Mac App Store this week, and came away impressed—this match-three puzzle title has the added depth and frills we’ve come to expect from the company, including both a rune-matching main game and construction-themed mini-games to break up the action.

7 Wonders is comprised of eight different worlds, all of which include multiple puzzles. Each puzzle is a well filled with dropping stones that need to be matched, eliminating them while making additional stones fall from the top, filling empty spaces. You have to make at least one match on each square of the current grid, changing its background color. Once you’ve accomplished this, you end the level by moving a special stone from the top of the well to the bottom, and get bonuses by eliminating or using special blocks that appear from time to time. As familiar as all of this may sound, MumboJumbo keeps it interesting with plenty of explosions, block-clearing power-ups, and sparkling animations, using little construction workers at the bottom of the screen to add a little fun and cuteness to the action. The asking price is low by Mac standards for a game of this quality, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
