We featured Samson’s original Meteor mic way, way back in 2011. Now, three years later, comes the sequel, sporting a logical name: Meteorite USB Condenser Microphone ($60).
The design is highly similar to before, but it’s been shrunk down into a smaller package, consisting of a spherical microphone with an integrated cable, and a desktop stand.
Coated in chrome, Meteorite has the same retro stylings of Meteor.
It plugs right into your Mac—or an iPad or iPhone, if you have a USB adapter—ready to work with any audio software you may want to use. It supports the same 16-bit, 44.1/48kHz resolution as its big brother, with a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz.
