You might be okay with four USB ports on the back of a Mac, but many people prefer extra USB expandability. Satechi’s latest accessory is the 10-Port USB 3.0 Hub ($70). Yeah, that’s right: 10 extra ports, all USB 3.0.
It’s definitely more advanced than your standard hub.
Nine of the ports, split into groups of three, are used for input to your Mac. Hook up a camera, hard drive, or whatever other peripherals you may be using.
Each grouping has its own power switch, allowing you to save some energy when they’re not in use. The tenth port is on the right edge of the strip, and specifically made for charging up an iPad. With 2.1-Amps of power output, it’ll juice up an iPad mini, original iPad, or iPad 2 at full speed, and a third- or fourth-gen Retina iPad at nearly full speed.
