Untame has released a unique take on the puzzle-platform game with Mushroom 11, challenging players to goad a massive blob through a barren landscape by forcing it to regrow lost cells. Destroying cells within the amorphous creature encourages its expansion in other directions, twisting the life form through tight tunnels or allowing it to gain the momentum needed to launch itself through various obstacles.
The concept is simple on its face, but getting through levels requires some inventive problem-solving, like splitting your blob to activate switches or combat swarms of mutants. Timing is everything since destroying the blob’s cells greatly affects its weight, balance and momentum, allowing players to do things like steer a rocket by making changes in weight distribution. The game features seven large levels, each with its own unique boss to defeat. To run the game, you’ll need OS X 10.7 or later, 2GB of RAM and 500 MB of hard drive space.
