After a rocky initial roll out in Japan last year, Apple Pay has added support for eight new credit cards and rolled out a “New Life” promotion offering extra point rewards or cash back options for using cards issued by participating providers. American Express, APLUS, EPOS Card, JACCS, Cedyna, Pocket Card, Life Card and UCS joined the existing ranks of Apple Pay providers in Japan starting today, with each offering their own special rewards for purchases made between March 1 and April 30. American Express, for example, is offering 5,000 yen back for the first 20,000 Apple Pay users to make more than 50,000 yen in purchases during the period. [via Ata Distance]
