Apple has already asked suppliers to ramp up production of the gold-colored iPhone 5s by one-third, according to the Wall Street Journal. The gold iPhone 5s has already seen heavy demand, which Apple doesn’t have the available stock to meet at this point. Within a half hour of the gold iPhone 5s going up for sale on Apple’s website, shipping times slipped to October for all models on all carriers. Buyers going to stores won’t fare much better, as a report from yesterday noted non-Apple stores would have very few, if any, gold units in stock today. Even Apple Stores have a very limited amount of gold and silver iPhone 5s units — iLounge visited a store that had just one gold iPhone 5s in stock when doors opened this morning.
