Apple is turning James Corden’s popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment into its own series, set to air as an Apple Music exclusive, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The series will expand on the current format, with celebrity guests singing along to their favorite songs and surprising fans during the ride, but will likely feature a host other than Corden.
The 16-episode series will be released weekly on Apple Music, but no premiere date has been announced.
The move adds to Apple’s growing stable of exclusive original video content aimed at promoting Apple Music. Apple is working on another original series with Dr.
Dre and has produced video projects with high-profile stars like Taylor Swift and Drake, but where those projects are aimed at specific fan bases, Apple’s SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue said Carpool Karaoke celebrates music “in a fun and unique way that is a hit with audiences of all ages. It’s a perfect fit for Apple Music—bringing subscribers exclusive access to their favorite artists and celebrities who come along for the ride.”
