Richard “Chip” Lutton Junior, Apple’s chief patent counsel, will soon leave the company, according to a new report.
Citing a source familiar with the situation, Reuters reports that while the reasons behind Lutton’s departure are unclear, BJ Watrous, a former deputy general counsel with Hewlett Packard, is now listed as Apple’s chief IP counsel on his own LinkedIn page.
The shake-up comes at a time when Apple is embroiled in a number of legal battles against major competitors including Samsung and HTC.
