A number of iPhone 4S users are reporting that the iOS 5.0.1 update, which Apple specifically noted as fixing “bugs affecting battery life”, has not helped their battery drain issues. According to a lengthy thread on Apple’s Support Communities site, a significant number of users are reporting that their battery is draining at the same rate as before, while some are reporting that their battery drains at an even faster rate than before.
Other users have reported that the update appears to have greatly improved their battery life, making it difficult to pinpoint the source of the problem for those that are still affected. [via 9to5Mac]
Update: Apple has released a statement to AllThingsD, stating that “The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices.
We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”
