Blue Microphones has introduced its second-generation Mikey Portable Recorder for iPod and iPhone. The new-model Mikey features two custom-tuned Blue capsules for professional-quality stereo recording, an improved acoustic circuit, a 3.5mm line-input for direct recording of other sound sources, a USB pass-thru connection for simultaneous charging and syncing, a new case with a 230-degree range of adjustability, and an included soft carrying pouch. In addition, Blue has launched Blue FiRe, a new high-fidelity field recording app for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app was developed in partnership with Audiofile Engineering and is optimized for use with the second-generation Mikey. Blue’s second-generation Mikey will be available this Spring and will sell for $100.
